A highly realistic image can be better than photography with hyper-sharp details achievable by using airbrush.

It is brilliant for fantasy subjects. For example, in technical drawings, cutaway views are only possible with airbrushed, realistic detail. Also, light effects not possible in nature are easy with this technique.

One can pick out what needs to be focused on, and add many special effects. For instance, one makes images generated in 3d programmes more interesting by adding a sparkle, or even darkening or blurring unimportant detail.

Therefore, fantasy art is where this style really comes into its own, with unworldly light and impossible feats. Fantastical worlds, creatures and characters can build amazing stories. Against all odds, airbrush helps your dreams and the world where they play out, to be utterly believable.

Apart from all that, this style can also create painterly effects and soften the cold perfection of 3D graphics.  All in all, there is a mood which is possible only with this style.
