DRAKANICA BEHIND THE MASK

Q: What do you value above all else in life?
A: Oh, inventing things, helping others be their best selves.

Q: How do your beliefs make life better for yourself and those you care about?
A: Sometimes many of those I encounter don’t realise this, but changing just one thing would enhance their whole lives. Often it becomes more than one thing, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Is it?

Q: What line will you never cross?
A: Can’t think of a single one. I’d have to cross that line when I come to it.

Q: What are you most ashamed of?
A: The way I look without my armour. It’s there for a reason.

Q: What is your biggest source of pride and why?
A: My brain, which makes so much possible. Like my make over! I like helping others. And I’m proud of Scribble and how he brought Aqua here. We’ve done so much. I have a family now.

More on Drakanica

Tough and tender by turns, Drakanica’s normally in her workshop, fixing and inventing with every tool imaginable to an ambitious inventor/surgeon. Her visette reflects her moods, sometimes projecting images at intense variance with her actual moods, e.g. a serene Mona Lisa when she’d really like to slap someone. Actual moods sometimes display as weather reports.

She’s a genius with machinery and high-tech equipment of every kind, including computers. Her arc during the story has to do with self-acceptance. Her only identity at the beginning of the story is the genius who remade herself. So she wants to repair everybody who needs it. Whether they need it is often a matter of opinion. Later she realises that ‘normality’ can be a matter of opinion.

A hyper-sensitive and introverted dragonfly, with clumsy social skills, Drakanica is driven to tinker her world to rights, literally so she can control everything within her power. As nicely as possible. She’s a mix of Tank Girl and Tesla with an exoskeleton.

Conflict happens between Drakanica and:
  • Cogs: because Cogs keeps undoing Drakanica’s ‘good work’ and losing his chips;
  • Scribble: because he appreciates nothing she does for him, and never takes advice;
  • Sheena because she’s so bossy and Drakanica doesn’t have the skills to deal with her.
  • Monty, because she thinks he may be a little sly. He knows everyone, though, so she needs to stay on his good side.
  • Aqua: there is a polite distance between them; Aqua gets in the way of Drakanica’s friendship with Scribble sometimes. After Scribble and Aqua get together at the mall-become-farm, Drakanica doesn’t see so much of her buddy.
